Exploit –
thermal deburring machine
We have accomplished a complex technology, drawing it
nearer to medium and small enterprises by simplifying
the purchase and management steps.
Dozens of patented innovations have made the machine
simple and compact, halving old costs, taking the
thermal deburring system to be one of the most
convenient and efficient systems in absolute.
It is not necessary to have multi-disciplinary experts
within the company because, thanks to the applied
electronics and the remote control, both routine
maintenance and any necessary interventions are guided
and controlled at a distance.
Innovative construction
The deburring chamber is mobile with an horizontal axis,
for a treble effect:
- the engineering of the system is simplified with
greater compactness and a strong mechanical resistance;
these characteristics lead to intrinsic soundproofing of
the machine’s body and to the possibility of
transporting it in a unique block, inside a container.
In this way deliveries, connections and tests are
notably simplified;
- the gas ignition performed is less disruptive than a
vertical chamber, as the front of the main flame does
not hit directly the elements to be deburred, greatly
reducing both the risk of violent piece shifting (risk
of scratching) and the use of special equipment for
their fixing;
- the “immersion” effect of the elements to be treated
is improved within the deburring volume (the gas is
present on all sides) and this guarantees more
efficiency to the process; resulting in improved
deburring with lower power request (i.e. less initial
pressure of the mixture).
Flexibility of use
The deburring chambers are interchangeable with lengths
from 200 mm to 310 mm maintaining a diameter of 260 mm.
This allows improved deburring of both small and large
pieces, both steel and light alloy pieces. By means of a
new system of low voltage spark plugs, there is no
longer a problem of igniting a lower concentration
mixture of methane and this is an advantage for the
deburring of very delicate elements.
Safety and convenience
The Exploit thermal deburring machine is subjected to
CE/PED certification, applicable by a specific notified
body and is ready also to respect the north-American
Standards such as ASME.
The machine can be easily inserted in to any industrial
context. The only restriction is given by respecting the
minimum and maximum temperatures for inserted
electronics (from +4°C to + 32°C).
Authorisations are necessary from the local authorities
for the storage of gases outside. Oxygen can be stored
in the liquid form in specific evaporators or in the
gaseous form in cylinders. For methane, it is necessary
to have a supply of 10 bar and a quality that is at
least equal to that used for motor vehicles.
As far as it is concerned the consumption of gas, we
indicate the average value for the treatment of steel
and cast iron, taking the two expected passages into
account: the first is rich in oxygen and the second
stoichiometric is used to clean the piece from any burrs
condensation residual from the first passage.
Considering a Ø 260 mm deburring chamber with a capacity
of about 13 litres the first passage is made at 16 bar
and the second at 11 bar.

The methane used for cars is sold in Italy on average at
€ 0.88/Kg; the oxygen in liquid form can be found at
€0.28/m3: this gives an average cost of gas consumption
for steel/cast iron cycle of € 0.062.
State-of-the-art electronics for better customer
satisfaction
The flexibility of Exploit is even more increased by its
electronics, which facilitate and valorize extremely its
use. The electronic command system puts a series of
utilities at disposal, which allow a capillary control
of the machine’s functions, fast production change-over,
indication of all the necessary maintenance operations.
The user always has the following data available:
• for the
technical-economical part, data relative to productivity
and the anomalies that have intervened can be
extrapolated, just as an alarms log;
• for the part concerning quality management and
production, for each article treated it is possible to
memorise (and therefore recall with an easy command) the
gas parameters and the type of cycle, the type of
positioning with any illustrative photos, for the
advantage of repeatability and treatment’s uniqueness.
Another peculiarity that is really innovative is given
by the possibility of monitoring all the machine
functions via any internet browser. Properly connected,
the system is easily accessible by the company’s net
system or via internet with a relative safety system (protection
by means of a password and access approval).
During the process, a synoptic shows the cycle in its
various phases on the video and this can be not only
visualised on the machine but also on an external
terminal. The display via web of all the diagnostic
information allows to eliminate or however drastically
reduce the maintenance interventions by the constructor,
thus obtaining the objective of maximum customer/user
autonomy.
Minimum interventions for a prolonged warranty
The delivery is made in a unique block that is already
assembled and the simplicity of connection to the
external networks combined to the connection in remote
diagnostics, allow to minimise the direct interventions
of our specialised staff, even if it is available if
necessary. It is therefore possible for SGM to propose,
with the payment of an annual fee, an extension of the
warranty up to three years from delivery with consequent
certain and limited costs for the customer/user.
The spare parts are always available at our office in
Monza and, anyhow, the electric and electronic
components, the valves and commercial parts used for
construction are standard and easy to find on the
market.
